2011 Year In Review:: Favorite DIY Project Of The Year (Link Party!!)

I can hardly believe how quickly this year has flown by.  Only five more days left of 2011!  That doesn’t even seem possible.

I do love the last week of a year, though.  It’s a time to reflect on the past year, and plan ahead and make goals for the coming year.  So as part of the “looking back” process, I thought it would be fun for us to look back over this past year and appreciate how much we’ve accomplished!  I thought we could do that with three impromptu link parties this week.

  • Monday – Favorite DIY Project of the year (this is something that you made from scratch),
  • Tuesday – Favorite Before & After project of the year (perhaps you gave an outdated lamp new life, or refinished a thrift store dresser),
  • Wednesday – Favorite Room Makeover (if you were able to put the finishing touches on a room this year, show it off!).

Sound good?  I can’t wait to see what you accomplished this year!

So I’ll get this party started by showing you my favorite DIY project of the year.  I admit that it was a hard decision for me to choose my one favorite project from the year.  I had narrowed it down to three, including my Framed Magnetic Chalkboard Spice Rack, and the Fancy Chalkboard, but in the end, my favorite DIY project from the year is this Sea-Inspired Gallery Wall that I created for John & Alice’s Family Room…

Why did I select this one?  First of all, I really like the graphic nature of it.  The white spray painted shells against the dark brown linen is very eye-catching and dramatic.  But most of all, this is the perfect example of how it is possible to create something large, eye-catching and attractive with very little money…which is pretty much what I’m all about.  Cheap!

Okay, now it’s your turn.  Show us your favorite DIY Project of the year!  If you have a hard time narrowing it down, then feel free to link up two projects, but please refrain from using this link party to shamelessly promote your blog by linking up every single thing you’ve done this year.  Just link up one or two of your favorite projects from the year.  And don’t forget…if it falls into the category of “before and after”, you can share those tomorrow, and “room makeovers” will be Wednesday!

  1. Your gallery wall in this post was the inspiration for my framed shell art that I created–thank you! My photography skills are lacking, but improving all the time too. Thanks for hosting and Happy New Year to all.
