Small Budget Laundry Room Makeover

May 28, 2013 by Kristi 5 Comments

Need some laundry room makeover inspiration?  Well, Krista at The Happy Housie has loads of it for you!  She took her glorified dark boring hallyway of a laundry/mud room, and turned it into a bright and cheery laundry room/mud room that might even make doing laundry tolerable!

Isn’t that one of the most cheerful rooms you’ve ever seen?

They installed horizontal paneling, painted, made DIY chalk-finish paint in turquoise for their cabinetry and back door, and installed a DIY countertop and shelf for extra storage and function. They added two rows of hooks to hang their coats and bags, and upcycled a vintage oar as a key hook holder. Some simple no-sew curtain panels now conceal the washer and dryer and pretty storage containers and DIY art make the room a place that they now want to spend time in, rather than avoid.

And they did all of this for a grand total of $340! Amazing!

Quite remarkable, especially on that budget, and especially considering that it started out like this:

Very cool, especially the two rows of hooks! When it comes to small spaces like laundry rooms and closets, it’s all about building up :)
